Now I know I am an IT professional (or IT geek to my closer friends and clients) so I am meant to get excited about things like software. This one however, is really worth knowing about, especially if you are a small business watching your bottom line while growing your top line and looking for a better way to manage your books than a spreadsheet.
I was looking for an accounting solution that had all I needed and what I found was "Manager". It's an open source project, which means the software is typically written as a collaborative effort in which programmers improve upon the code and share the changes within the community. Open Source is a well proven software development technique. You have no doubt heard of the Windows operating system and Apple's OSX for Macs, and may have heard of Linux or Ubuntu, which are Open Source alternatives to these.
So now you know what Open Source is, Manager is an open source, excellent, modern, feature-rich accounting program built for Macs, Windows and Ubuntu. It includes key accounting modules, tax functions and features that streamline data entry and accounting procedures and is well worth reviewing.
